Hi everyone,

I am organising a freediving training week in Dahab in January 2015. Those who know me, know that I am head over heels in love with Dahab. Be aware! It’s contagious. Every single friend who ever joined me to Dahab feels the same now.

Dahab is a small laid-back town located 80 km northeast of Sharm El Sheikh. It is much quieter and less touristic than f.e. Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada. It’s a former Bedouin fishing village at the Red Sea and the many dive sites are perfect for freediving.

On one of my many trips to Dahab, I have met Zanas and Samantha. They both are experienced freedive instructors and great friends. They have worked for Freedive International in Dahab and in Koh Tao and they are starting up their own freediving centre in Dahab now. They will coach us during our training week, take care of our safety and provide us with the buoys and the weights and make sure we have plenty of (underwater) pictures to take home. Also taking a freediving class is possible.

We will stay at Sindbad Camp. This camp is located in the North side of the bay of Dahab, near Lighthouse. It is near the beach and on walking distance from the restaurants and the shops. Don’t expect luxury but basic and clean rooms (www.sindbaddahab.com).

There will be 7 days of freediving at different divesites, with 2 training sessions a day. We will go to Blue Hole and Bells (www.bigbluedahab.com/bells), Lighthouse (www.bigbluedahab.com/light-house) and The Islands (www.bigbluedahab.com/islands). You can choose whether you want to do depth training or fun freediving or just do some snorkeling.

Dahab does not only have the Red Sea but also an amazing desert with mountains and canyons. A perfect spot for a desert BBQ. On Monday evening we will drive to Wadi Gnai, a canyon south of Dahab. While we make a walk in the canyon and enjoy the scenery, our guides will prepare us a delicious Bedouin dinner. After our walk we will have dinner around the fireplace and enjoy the silence of the desert and the shooting stars.

Our schedule will look like this:
Sunday: Arrival
Monday: Depth training at Blue Hole or fun freediving at Bells & Blue Hole
Tuesday: Depth training or fun freediving at Lighthouse + Night freediving
Wednesday: Depth training at Blue Hole or fun freediving at Bells & Blue Hole
